Myself, Family, & Hometown
My name is Annabelle Lilly and I am a junior at Liberty University. I am from Upstate New York and I am the oldest sibling of three. I have one younger brother who is 13 years-old and a 16-year-old sister. I am extremely close to all my family members. My mom and dad started a church in New York, Starpoint Church, that I am highly involved in and love dearly. I even interned at the church this summer and learned so much as well as implemented and accomplished so much. I love being at the church and helping out in all the different ministries as needed. My favorite ministry to be involved in is our Student Ministry program, specifically with the middle schoolers. I love being able to pour into them and build a sweet relationship with all of the middle school girls. Additionally, I run two of our churches social media accounts. I manage our women’s ministry social media account and our young adults social media account. I create and develop content for both of the accounts and I absolutely love being able to apply my degree in a way to glorify God.
Degree & Future Career
At Liberty University I am studying strategic communication and have a minor in business as well as church leadership. I love my degree because it allows me to be creative, develop content, and learn how to effectively and strategically market, build brand image and reputation, as well as how to reach a specific audience. I want to use what I am studying and work at a church in their communication or media department. Because of my internship that was at my hometown church, I decided I want to work and go into ministry. It is clear when I am working at the church that I am in my element and excel in everything I do there. Additionally, I am so passionate about everything I do at the church because I know the impact and can see the impact of my work bringing people to Christ. It is such a rewarding career and am honored to help expand the Kingdom of God. I am eager to see the doors the Lord opens for me and have the opportunity to serve Him.
My Internship
My time during my internship at Starpoint Church taught me a lot and enhanced a lot of my skills. The biggest skills I developed at Starpoint were my leadership and event planning skills. The other intern and I were completely over the student ministry, as we had no Youth Pastor during our time there. My key roles as an intern were to manage all volunteers, systems, and plan events for the student ministry.
Leading over 22 adult volunteers, definitely grew my leadership skills. I had to make sure everyone felt confident and equipped to be serving as well as inspire them to keep serving. I also created new systems for the student ministry, as it was very unorganized. We further enhanced small groups and had to reassign volunteer positions to be more clear. Additionally, I created a system where volunteers were scheduled to serve and preach each week. In regards to preaching, I had to help develop sermons and small group questions each week for volunteers. I even gave a sermon myself, which helped grow my speaking skills. Another key skill I learned was event planning, during my internship I planned a lot of key events. For example, Color War, Pajama and Cereal Sunday, a kickball game, student ministry volunteer appreciation night, Party on the Lawn, high school and middle school camp, and many more events. My time during my internship gave me a lot of experience and skills.
