Ultimately I want to use my strategic communications degree from Liberty University to point people to Jesus in creative ways that people can relate and connect to through digital media. More specifically I want to use my degree to strategically promote church ministries, services, and events as well as effectively communicate information about different areas in the church. There are so many areas of the church that need effective communication for the different services they provide. For example the young adults ministry, student ministry, VBS, baptisms, student summer camp, counseling services, a new upcoming series, connect groups, and so many other areas of the church that people can get plugged in to by digital media and other communication channels.
Helping people get plugged into the church is so vital because the more connected people feel to the church the more they will feel connected with God. When people feel cared for and feel that they belong, then they will feel more comfortable serving, getting involved in discipleship opportunities, growing relationships with other church comers, and coming to church regularly to grow their faith.
After my internship at Starpoint church I realized my calling and passion for ministry that I have in my life. I specifically loved creating online content for the church as well as effectively crafting emails and newsletters to best communicate with the congregation. I found myself constantly volunteering my time and working extra hours just because I loved working on projects that I directly saw expanding God’s kingdom. As well as working with other amazing christian leaders. It is such a fulfilling experience to know your gifts the Lord has blessed you with is going to plant seeds in the hearts of people who attend the church. Furthermore, it is an amazing opportunity to see God blossom those seeds and grow people’s faith.
Furthermore, I have an internship this summer in Dallas, Texas, at Prestonwood Church. I am so excited and feel very blessed at the opportunity the Lord has blessed me with. I will be a part of their student ministry media team. Through this internship I will really develop my Adobe skills as I am creating their graphics and editing photos. I also will be learning how to work a camera by taking their photos and videos. This is a skill I never have had the opportunity to develop before and I am excited to learn this skill as well as become very good at it. Additionally, I am eager to see and learn more about how all of Prestonwood’s church systems work. Their student ministry teams is thousands of students, so I am interested in seeing the organization and planning processes that goes into their events, services, and retreats the church offers. The student ministry will have camp in Florida for two weeks so I can not wait to go to beach camp with the students, connect with them more, pour into them, and watch their faith grow! Through my Starpoint Church internship, I learned how much I love discipling and leading the middle school age group. Therefore, I can not wait to do the same for the Prestonwood Church group and learn so much from them. God is so good to me to allow me to use my giftings at a church that I can learn so much from.
I do not know exactly what I want my career to look like in ministry and the role I want to go into at whatever church the Lord leads me to. However, my love for ministry is undeniable and I know for certain that I want to go into ministry. I know the Lord will open the rights doors for me for the plans He has in store of my life. I am so excited to see it unfold.
